Hello
I’m Stuart, a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and counsellor based in London. I work with adults on a one-to-one basis, both in-person and online, offering short-term and open-ended therapy.
Why Therapy?
There are many reasons people come to therapy. You may be struggling with the impact of a recent event or unexpected change, living with a prolonged sense of suffering, or noticing unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about your direction in life. It may even be difficult to put into words what feels wrong; you simply know that you want things to be different.
Sometimes that difference comes through change, sometimes through adapting your responses to difficult situations, and sometimes through a deeper understanding of yourself and your experience. Therapy can help with this process.
Therapy with me is relaxed, compassionate, and collaborative. Drawing on my background in the arts, I see therapy as a creative process in which we can work together to find an approach that feels right for you. I won’t tell you what to do or offer advice, but I won’t be silent or passive either.
I’ll listen carefully, be curious, and seek to understand the world as you experience it so we can explore the ways of being that may no longer serve you.
This exploration can reveal new ways of responding to life’s challenges and help you discover alternative choices, perspectives, and possibilities for living.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory session online or by phone to discuss what brings you to therapy and whether working together feels like a good fit.
If you would like to work together, sessions are 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week. That said, I recognise that life doesn’t always go to plan, so I aim to be flexible where possible.

*What’s the difference between psychotherapy and counselling?
The terms psychotherapy and counselling are often used interchangeably, with some people seeing little difference between them. Others, however, distinguish counselling as primarily focused on immediate concerns and specific difficulties, with psychotherapy exploring more deeply rooted patterns of suffering and ways of being. In practice, there is considerable overlap between the two. My approach encompasses both, and throughout this website I use ‘therapy’ as an umbrella term.
